#23: It is okay NOT to have everything that you want [#dailyMOJO]
We all have so many wants and needs in this world that we strive so hard to achieve them. We spend a lot of our time, energy and fortune on wanting to achieve our goals.
There is nothing wrong with that, really. We're human beings and we have our desires.
Who does not want to be rich? Who does not want to be known? Who does not want to be successful?
We flip through How-To books, or go to seminars to learn how we can realize our dreams. Heck, even this blog sometimes talk about realizing your dreams.
But here is the thing: There are things in life that we can control. We can control our actions and our effort. Then again, there are things we can't control.
For example, there are other forces working in this world. Some call it THE universe, some call it God.
As I am not an expert in the religious field (that's why I prefer to avoid the subject matter altogether in this blog) and I am faaaarrrrrr from perfect... but I know for sure that God has His own master plan for all of us.
Just like you, I have my own dreams and goals to achieve. Sometimes I work so hard to achieve them. However, there are days that despite my continuous effort, I somehow cannot get what I want.
Like many, I get upset. I get extremely upset. I feel like a failure.
"I've done the work, but why can't I get the desired outcome?" I often ask myself.
One thing I've learned is that: If it's meant to be, it IS meant to be. If God wants it to happen, it will happen.
As I get older, I realize life is all about doing the work. It's all about putting your effort and giving it your best shot.
The outcome?
You have no control over the outcome. Sometimes you will get what you want and at times, you have to be ready for any possibilities.
So you didn't get that perfect job you've been eyeing. The person you have a crush on didn't give you any of his/her attention. Perhaps your client rejected your proposal.
Don't give up. Keep striving, keep doing what you do best. If God does not reward you the way you want Him to reward, perhaps He has other ways of rewarding you.
Your feedback is my #dailyMOJO too! Let's continue the conversation in the comment box: Has there been a moment in your life when you didn't get what you want but you're very okay with it?

I guess it would be about the learning process for me. Yes, of course there have been many times that I work my ass off for something, yet I don't get it. But that also means that I've learned a lot about something too.
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning, you'd take it as a failure, but the idea of learning so much, eventually takes away that feeling of failure and takes your mind to greater heights :)
Sheryl,
ReplyDeleteThat's right! There are lessons in every situation - good and bad! :)
