Hope it's not too late to wish motivationMY followers/readers/listeners a Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin!
I was just telling my cousin, whom I met just now, about how we celebrated Raya in the early 2000's. We would do a lot of visiting and collecting duit raya along the way. And then we would the Raya programmes on TV. We were kids... just being KIDS!!
As I get older (and no longer receiving duit raya!!), how I view the first day of Syawal has changed.
Two reasons:
1. Togetherness
With our chaotic schedules and ever-changing and unpredictable calendar, this is the only time to enjoy each other's company. I know this sounds a little too cliche, but isn't it true? There are people that we only get to meet once a year - and for some of us - that day is Hari Raya.
Raya is all about togetherness. An opportunity to meet family members and friends who we don't get to meet often. Whatever it is, cherish the moment and cherish their presence.
2. Forgiveness
Raya is also a chance to ask for forgiveness and to forgive others.
We will say "Maaf Zahir Batin" when greeting others, but let's REALLY mean it when we utter the three words. Let's really ask for forgiveness and to forgive others on this joyous occasion.
Raya is an opportunity to start fresh and new.
What does Raya means to you? Share!
